These saddles are based on the 1912 Pattern Universal Military Saddles which have proved their worth for carrying heavy loads over great distances and having no adverse effect on horse or rider.

They are built using the same swivel mechanism we use in the 1912 Pattern Military Saddles but we have modified the bars to achieve a better fit on the Arab style horses used in endurance riding today. The bars have been shortened to allow for these shorter backed horses but have also been widened to increase the load bearing area on the horses back.

To increase the comfort level for the rider during the hours of training or competitive riding, we have padded the seat with closed cell foam as well as replace the traditional saddle flap and narrow stirrup leathers with a fender and wide ox-bows. This, along with the twisted and wrapped stirrup leathers reduces leg strain and eliminates areas that can rub the rider.

The girthing system is a "V" attachment with three buckling options:

1. a two point straps to use with a 4-buckle girth,
2. a ring to lace on a corded or ring girth,
3. a ring to buckle our neoprene stock girth.

Your choice of rigging is included in the mounted price of the saddle.
