We have developed a unique set of kits that will enable anyone to make their own horse and cattle handling equipment using double braided polyester yachting rope.

There was a lot of confusion amongst horsemen and women who were making their own equipment, but could not find ‘easy to follow’ or accurate instructions. We developed these kits so that horse and cattle owners could make their own safe, durable and economical equipment.

You are able to purchase any of the five Packaged Kits which contain all of the tools, hardware and materials as well as ‘easy to follow’ instructions to make that particular piece of equipment.

The instructions are in colour and have been laminated to ensure they will be a useful reference for years to come. The equipment that can be made with these kits include halters and bridles for horses, cattle halters, lead ropes, training reins and split reins.

If you are likely to become more involved in making a lot of equipment, our Splicing Kit is also available. This kit contains the full set of five laminated instruction sheets for all of the equipment mentioned as well as three splicing fids and other tools used to splice all sizes of yachting braid used in the equipment.

Should you wish to purchase the Splicing Kit - the best value if you intend to make several items of equipment, we can also provide the rope by the metre, for specific equipment or by the roll so that you get exactly what you require.

We can also supply the ‘chain and ring sets’ for the cow halters as well as the leather nose bands.

The heavy chrome leather slobber straps and leather thongs used to finish the ends of the reins or lead ropes are also available.

The polyester yachting braid that we use is the most suitable for stock handling as it is superior in UV resistance and strength to the more commonly used and cheaper polypropylene ropes. However, correct techniques must be used to splice and knot this rope so as to maintain maximum strength.
